Exactly. I understand the artist's point of view here but they have to understand the audience's as well. It's a give and take on both ends. With the "hits", chances are bands wouldn't be playing every night nor have the chance to make the new music they want to. Fans have to realize that musicians aren't playlists and they can't pick and choose what a band plays. The bands that get it the most always say that when a song become huge, it's no longer theirs so they just live with it and try not to let be a negative.
