I LOVED this article. I’ve been a Blind Melon fan since a local record store owner in Brooklyn said I’d like them back in 1992 because he knew I liked blues influenced guitar rock (he cited Pearl Jam’s “Even Flow) and he was all kinds of right! I even met Christopher and Brad once outside of a Unified Theory show (their band after Blind Melon) in NYC after almost being run over by their cab!

Soup is brilliant and your premise about critics being swayed (and lazy) by previous releases is so true.
