I think this a great way to experience and explain what hearing Bowie for the first time is like. It's a great description for anyone who was able to feel what Bowie's music was capable of.
I've written about this a lot as it relates to my life. When I heard Space Oddity for the first time (it was the early 80s , I was probably 10 or 11) it changed EVERYTHING I felt about music. I wasn't sure what that meant back then, but all of my "pop" sensibilities changed and morphed into something much greater than just sound alone, and Bowie became my personal pied piper for music that was left of center. He's no longer here but he's still leading me on that journey.
