This may come as a surprise to some considering I’m writing a book with 1991 in its subtitle discussing how that year introduced grunge to the masses and the the immense impact it had on generations up to and including right now…but I LOVE this article. Many of the bands you mentioned are in fact in my book and played a pivotal role in the cultural shift. Not to mention I’m a big fan of most of the bands (and the alt-80s scene in general) you highlighted.

This piece proves that although the global light was shining brightest on Seattle in 1991, that year had more to offer the world than most years before or after it in terms of impact, importance, and just badass music! Great article!!
